Payment Gateways

One gateway. Every way parents pay.

NuPay is linked by API to Smile Link, the ZB Bank payment gateway. Parents pay by mobile money, wallet or card, the money settles in the school’s bank account, and NuPay matches the payment to the student and invoice the moment it is confirmed.

  • EcoCash, InnBucks, O’mari, OneMoney, SmileCash, Visa and Mastercard
  • Payments confirmed to NuPay by API, not by proof-of-payment screenshots
  • Funds settle in the school’s own account, never with NuPay

Smile Link, the ZB Bank gateway

NuPay uses Smile Link to collect online payments. It is one integration, and it opens every payment method below to the school without a separate contract or setup for each.

What the gateway accepts

The methods parents already use

In USD or ZWG, from home or from abroad.

Bank transfers and deposits are picked up separately, through the bank connection.

How a payment travels

From the parent’s phone to the right invoice

The gateway moves the money. NuPay keeps the record.

  1. 1

    The invoice carries the link

Every invoice NuPay sends has a Pay Online option. The parent needs no account and no app.

  2. 2

    The parent pays

They pick a method and approve the payment on the gateway’s secure page, in full or in part.

  3. 3

    The gateway confirms

The result comes back to NuPay by API, tied to the invoice it was raised for.

  4. 4

    The books update

The invoice, the student balance, the ledger and the parent portal change together.

Money and security

The gateway handles the payment. The school gets the money.

NuPay sits beside the payment, not in the middle of it. It never holds school funds, and it never needs a parent’s card or wallet details.

  • Settled to the school. Payments land in the school’s own bank account, not in a NuPay account.
  • Paid on the gateway’s page. Card numbers and wallet PINs are entered with the gateway, not typed into NuPay.
  • A receipt for every payment. The parent gets confirmation, and the school has the transaction against the invoice.
For payment gateways

Schools collect fees every term. Carry them.

School fees are large, regular and predictable. NuPay puts a Pay Online option on every invoice a school sends, and invites gateways and payment providers to connect, so more parents can pay the way they prefer.

FAQs

Which payment gateway does NuPay use?

For now, NuPay uses Smile Link, the ZB Bank payment gateway, connected by API. More gateways will follow.

Which payment methods can parents use?

EcoCash, InnBucks, O’mari, OneMoney, SmileCash, Visa and Mastercard, in USD or ZWG, from home or abroad.

Where does the money go?

Into the school’s own bank account. NuPay never holds school funds. It receives the confirmation and matches the payment to the student and invoice.

Does the school need a separate agreement with each payment method?

No. The gateway is one integration that carries all of the methods above. We help the school get set up on it.

Does NuPay see or store card details?

No. Parents enter card and wallet details on the gateway’s secure page. NuPay receives the result of the payment, not the card.

Do parents need to sign up to pay?

No. They open the invoice, tap Pay Online and choose a method.

How is this different from the bank connection?

The gateway collects online payments and confirms each one to NuPay. The bank connection is a live feed of the school’s bank account, which also picks up transfers, deposits and expenses.

We run a payment gateway. How do we connect with NuPay?

Get in touch and we will set up a conversation with your integrations team. We scope against your API, test it, pilot it with one school, then offer it to every NuPay school.

Let parents pay in a tap. Let NuPay do the matching.
